Okay, first the telephone was invented. It was meant as a way of communication between 2 persons of different locations, say, one in the room and the other is at the hall, and the rest is history. It evolves so much up to the extend that now it is getting much much more complicated ways, but still in the name of communicating. It is no longer talking to another person in different locations of the same building, now it could be talking to people of different buildings, vicinity, locality, states, country, continent or perhaps, different planet.
Types of communications have also evolved rapidly. There are voice call, video call, conference call, one-to-many or many-to-one call, sending and receiving text, emails and the list goes on. All that are categorized under ways of communicating. Say goodbye to letters, fax, telegram (?), memo and another list goes on. So, what seems to be the best way of communicating nowadays? Well the choices are abundant, depending on what suits you.
Some may still prefer one-to-one phone call. I say something from one end and you say something from the other end. We need not necessarily to meet somewhere to talk, we could just do it over the phone, for as how many hours we want to. Hmm, what am I ranting about actually? My point here is, the evolution in the technology of the telephone has taken over the very basic way of face-to-face communication. Some even say what is the point of meeting if we could talk over video call, or worst, don't talk, just text!
At some point, it came across my mind that, if Alexander Graham Bell got the chance to be around in this era, he may not be sure if this is the basic concept of the telephone that he invented back then. From the very basic of exchanging 'hello!' from one end to another, now a telephone can even be used for meeting of company board of directors across the continent.
Nowadays, since life moves in a very fast pace, mobile phone is an essential. Without one, we may feel being left behind the progress of the world. From the need of the working class, mobile phones of various features became important tool, even for grandmas & grandpas. Even student who need to attend extra classes on short notice need not to go back to tell their parents that they will not be at home in the noon but instead, sending text 'got extra class, will be home by 8pm' will just do. What kind of extra class would take up to 8pm? LOL.
Can we just do a day without a phone. Well, I did try to 'disconnect' my life from the mobile phone for a few days before. But heck, every single hours, I felt that there is something just not right. 'Something is missing somewhere' kind of feeling. What made it worst was I kept on reaching my pocket for my phone (which I left at home). Damn!, I never thought that it could be that bad if 'the phone' is not around me.
Well, this post can't really conclude anything since mobile phone has become an important tool in our daily lives. We may feel OK if there is no TV or radio around but no phone? You gotta be kidding me! Even there is a radio and TV feature in a mobile phone now so, without a phone, some people say, it's like no life!
